What is Ricovir 300 mg Tablet?

Ricovir is is an antiviral medication. Ricovir, manufactured by Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc., contains Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate as active ingredient. It is a prescription HIV drug that should be used under proper medical guidance and advice. Do not share the medicine with others, since they may be suffering from a problem that is not effectively treated by this drug.

What is the use of Ricovir Tenofovir Tablet?

Ricovir (Tenofovir) is an antiretroviral medicine that prevents human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) from multiplying in your body. Tenofovir is used to treat HIV, the virus that can cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

How Does Tenofovir Tablet Work?

When HIV infects a cell, it takes control of that cell. HIV then forces the cell to make many more copies of the virus. To make these copies, the cell uses proteins called enzymes. When the activity of these enzymes is reduced the production of HIV slows.

Tenofovir DF belongs to a class (group) of HIV drugs called nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). NRTIs block an HIV enzyme called reverse transcriptase. What are the precautions & warnings of Ricovir Tablets?

Before Taking Ricovir HIV medication, it is important to understand all precautions or safety information associated with it. Follow the following prescription medicine precautions :

Missed Dose : More than 80% of patients occasionally miss a dose of their medication. Forgetting to take your medicines at the normal time means they might not work as well as they should. For best results, it is important to receive each scheduled dose of Ricovir medication as instructed. If you miss a dose, contact your health care provider or pharmacist immediately to establish a new dosing schedule. Be careful not to take doses too close together because you might get side effects. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

What are the storage instructions for Ricovir Tablets?

• Store Tenofovir DF tablets in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat and light.
• Discard the medicine if its expiry date has crossed.
• Keep this and all medicines out of the reach of children and pets. A locked cupboard at least one-and-a-half meters above the ground is a good place to store medicines.
• Keep Ricovir in the original container, and keep the container closed tightly.
• Do not store Ricovir (Tenofovir DF) or any other medicine in the bathroom or near the kitchen sink. Do not leave it in the car. Heat and dampness can destroy some medicines.
• Please return any unused or unwanted medicines to your clinic or pharmacy to destroy.
• Do not use Tenofovir DF if the original seal over the container opening is broken or missing.
