Afinitor is a prescription oncology medicine that can be purchased by a patient only against a valid prescription of a healthcare professional. Do not share this medicine with others for whom it was not prescribed.
Uses of Afinitor 5 mg
Afinitor 5 mg is used to treat certain types of kidney cancer, breast cancer, or brain tumor. It is also used to treat certain types of advanced or progressive tumors of the stomach, intestines, or pancreas.
How to Use Afinitor 5 mg Tablet
Take Afinitor 5 mg once a day, at about the same time every day, consistently either with or without food. Your doctor will tell you how many tablets of Afinitor to take.Swallow the tablet(s) whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush the tablets.
If you forget to take Afinitor 5 mg
If you miss a dose of AFINITOR 5 mg, you can take it if it is less than 6 hours after the time you usually take it. If more than 6 hours have passed after you usually take it, skip the dose for that day. The next day, take this medicine at the usual time. Do not take a double dose to make up for the forgotten tablets. If you are not sure what to do, call your doctor or nurse.
If you have taken too much Afinitor, or if someone else accidentally took your pills, see your doctor or go to the hospital immediately. Urgent treatment may be necessary.

Drinking alcohol during cancer treatment, even as little as a glass of wine or two, may prove especially problematic. It could interfere with medicine and potentially increase the risk of some side effects, since drugs and alcohol both have to be metabolized by the liver. It is advisable to consult your doctor before consumption.
Afinitor could harm your breast-fed baby. You should not breast-feed during treatment and for 2 weeks after the last dose of this cancer medicine. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding.
This oncology drug could harm your unborn baby and is not recommended during pregnancy. Tell your health care provider if you are pregnant or think that you may be pregnant. Your doctor will talk to you about taking this medicine during your pregnancy.
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to Everolimus or any other inactive ingredients present along with it.
This medicine may affect male fertility. Talk to your doctor if you wish to father a child.
If you are taking other medications simultaneously with Afinitor Everolimus 5mg, your doctor may need to change the dose of Afinitor or other drugs. Tell your specialist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other prescription & non-prescription medicines.
