Emfib is an anti-cancer drug manufactured by Emcure Pharmaceuticals Ltd. This medicine contains the active ingredient Gefitinib 250 mg. The medicine is available in the form of tablet and each strip of Emfib 250 mg contains 10 tablets. This prescription drug must be taken as per the doctor’s proper instructions.
Emfib 250 mg tablet is used for the treatment of adult patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that is locally advanced (not suitable for a curative therapy) or metastatic (when cancer cells have spread from the lung to the other part of the body).
Take one 250 mg tablet, once a day, every day, at about the same time. You can take Emfib with or without food. The dosage of Emfib Gefitinib is determined by several factors, including the patient’s general health and ongoing response to treatment. Patients should take their medication as prescribed by their doctor.
Take the tablet whole, do not break, crush or chew. If you have trouble swallowing the tablet, dissolve it in half a glass of still (non-fizzy) water. Do not use any other liquids. Swirl the water until the tablet has dissolved. This may take up to 20 minutes. Drink the liquid straight away. To make sure that you have drunk all of the medicine, rinse the glass very well with half a glass of water and drink it.
If you forget to take Emfib
If you forget to take a dose, take the last missed dose as soon as you remember, as long as it is at least 12 hours before the next dose is due. If it is less than 12 hours until your next dose: skip the missed tablet. Then take the next tablet at the usual time.
Do not take a double dose (two Emfib tablets at the same time) to make up for a forgotten dose.
In case of drug overdose, contact a health care practitioner, hospital emergency department or regional Poison Control Centre immediately, even if there are no symptoms.
