Oncology Nursing Month

The Role of Oncology Nurses in Journey of Cancer Patients

May is designated as Oncology Nursing Month to honor nurses who care for patients with cancer. Oncology nurses and nursing support staff are on the front lines of cancer care – in explaining the diagnosis, administering treatments, managing side effects, supporting patients and their families, rejoicing during triumphs and offering words of comfort. No matter what their patients' cancer journeys bring, they are with them every step of the way.

Cancer is the leading cause of death in the United States, and it is extremely rare these days to meet someone who hasn’t personally been touched by cancer. Oncology nurses make a difference in a cancer patient’s life; not only with prescribed treatments and technical expertise, but as teachers, listeners and someone to lean on. They must clearly document all patient cares, keeping updated medical records to ensure continuity of care both within the nursing team and across the multi-disciplinary group that is responsible for each patient. As they help people through some of the most trying times, we at Drugssquare Cancer Medicine Pharmacy want to celebrate their work and the differences they make to our patients.

This month and beyond, Our Mail order pharmacy want to say "Thank you" to all those oncology nurses who are dedicated to the fight against cancer. As well as daily care and support for our patients and their loved ones.
