How Does Crizalk (Crizotinib) Capsule Work ?

Crizotinib is a type of medicine known as a protein kinase inhibitor. A kinase is an enzyme that promotes cell growth. There are many types of kinases, which control different phases of cell growth. By blocking a particular enzyme from working, this medication can slow the growth of cancer cells.

Crizotinib works by targeting and blocking receptors found on the cancer cells called an anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK). This kinase is overactive in certain types of lung cancer cells and it stimulates the growth and spread of the cancer cells. By inhibiting the action of ALK, Crizalk can slow or stop cell growth of cancer cells and may also shrink the tumour.
